Observatories - Tokyo Seasonal Guide

Observatories

Tokyo Metropolitan Government Observatory

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building has two free observation decks that offer a panoramic view of the city of Tokyo from a height of 202 meters above the ground.
You can see Tokyo Tower, Sky Tree, and other landmark buildings of Tokyo. Fuji may be seen on a fine day from December to February, and since the observatory is open until 10 p.m., you can also enjoy a beautiful night view of Shinjuku.

⚠️
As of October 2023, the North Observatory is closed.

Tokyo Marathon

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is also the starting point for the Tokyo Marathon. I participated in the Tokyo Marathon in 2023. I was able to complete the race, albeit slowly. I recommend running a marathon in the middle of Tokyo.
💡
Every year around August, there is an application process for the Tokyo Marathon.
